What is RQTH and how do you obtain it?

What is RQTH?

The Recognition of Disabled Worker Status (RQTH), as its name suggests, allows individuals to be recognized as disabled workers. This grants access to a range of measures designed to promote the professional integration of disabled people: both for finding employment and for keeping it.

Who is affected?

A disabled worker is defined as "any person whose chances of obtaining or retaining employment are effectively reduced as a result of the impairment of one or more physical, sensory, mental or psychological functions".

You must also be over 16 years old.

How do I obtain it?

Recognition of Disabled Worker Status (RQTH) is obtained through a decision by the Commission for the Rights and Autonomy of Disabled Persons (CDPAH). It involves officially recognizing one's ability to work, based on the individual's disability-related capabilities.

A disability recognition (RQTH) procedure is automatically initiated when an application for the Adult Disability Allowance (AAH) is processed. If you are not currently receiving it, you can apply for it by contacting the Departmental Center for Disabled Persons (MDPH) in your place of residence.

You must submit the following documents:

The application can be submitted by the person with a disability or their legal representative.

But be patient, processing times can be quite long and vary from one department to another. It takes approximately 6 months to obtain your RQTH (Recognition of Disabled Worker Status).

MDPHs are present in all departments. They are public service centers aimed at welcoming, informing, guiding and supporting disabled people.

For how long?

Good news, Decree No. 2018-1222 of December 24, 2018 allows for the extension of the maximum duration of the allocation of certain rights for disabled persons as well as their allocation without time limit for persons whose disability is not likely to evolve favourably.

What are your advantages?

Being recognized as a disabled worker allows, in particular, the following measures to be taken:

  • Referral by the CDAPH to a sheltered workshop or supported employment service, to the job market, or to a vocational rehabilitation center
  • Support from the specialized placement network Cap Emploi
  • The obligation to employ
  • Access to the civil service through competitive examination, whether modified or not, or through specific contractual recruitment,
  • Agefiph assistance
  • Access to ENTHEA gives you the opportunity to meet a Recruiter and thus find a job suited to your abilities and skills.

Recognition of disabled worker status also gives priority access to various employment and training support measures.
