It is possible to go camping even if you wet the bed.

Participating in a group holiday or camping trip is most often an insurmountable challenge for a child who still wets the bed, to the point that many refuse to go for fear that their problem will be discovered.

Camping Procedure

It is based on this observation that the association of families of children with enuretic disorders, "A L'AISE," has been offering a mini-camping stay for a group of children with enuretic disorders for the past two years. From July 16th to 21st, 2018, six children participated in a camp located in the beautiful Périgord Noir region. The small group, supervised by three volunteer counselors, pitched their tents at the foot of the Château de Beynac, on the banks of the Dordogne River.

The 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls aged 8 to 10, were therefore able to fully experience nature by sharing the joys of camping within a specially designed outdoor facility.

Living well together and respecting differences were the guiding principles of this stay for these children, all of whom suffer from bedwetting, making diapers essential at night for this type of accommodation. Their shared condition was neither a hindrance nor did it spoil their vacation, which unfolded in a relaxed and open atmosphere, allowing them to freely discuss their respective bedwetting issues. Each child could talk about it and share moments together, something they would normally have to keep secret for fear of being judged.

During this week, the children are encouraged to break free from what confines them the rest of the time. Discussions about the unique characteristics of this group can take place with other people, even children who frequent the campsite, always with the aim of raising awareness about bedwetting, a condition shared by many children.
